Mikael yawned as he rolled out of bed, hands reaching out to pull a pair of thin wiry glasses over his small green eyes. The fuzzy darkness that surrounded him resolved into a much clearer, sharper darkness, and the boy levered himself upright, fighting to remember his dream. It had been a good one, something cool with dragons flying in it, with fire and explosions and such excitement that only now was his heart calming in his chest for some reason whose details were already eluding him.
